Hui'an carving art has a long history. Through the inheritance and innovation of masters and craftsmen of past dynasties, Hui'an carving technology has not only been widely used in granite, marble, sandstone, jade and other four stone materials, as well as various hardwood and cork, but also gradually formed six different carving techniques such as "round carving, relief carving, line carving, shadow carving, sinking carving and micro carving", and has developed stele, urban garden carving and building materials There are six categories of architectural components, religious carvings, stone and wood furniture, handicrafts, and thousands of carving varieties. They have become a bright pearl of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, enjoying the reputation of "superb craftsmanship and unique Chinese culture". The products are exported to more than 30 countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Europe, America, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

 

Honor

In 1997, Hui'an County was awarded "hometown of Chinese carving art" by the Ministry of agriculture;

In 2003, China Arts and Crafts Association awarded Hui'an County the honorary title of "capital of Chinese carving art";

In 2006, Huian stone carving was selected into the first batch of national intangible culture list, and awarded the title of "hometown of Chinese folk carving art (stone carving)" by the Ministry of culture;

In 2011, "Hui'an stone carving" was approved and registered as a geographical indication certification trademark by the State Administration for Industry and commerce

On November 4, 2013, Huian County was officially awarded the title of "inheritance base of Chinese carving art" by China Folk Artists Association, which is the first in the national sculpture art field;

On October 17, 2015, the world handicraft Council awarded Huian County the plaque of "the world stone carving capital", and Hui'an won the title of the first "world stone carving capital";

In 2017, China (Hui'an) International Sculpture Art Exhibition was successfully held, which won the title of "Chinese Buddhist art industry base";

On October 9, 2018, the China Sculpture Academy awarded Hui'an County the title of "National Sculpture innovation and research base" and held the awarding ceremony;

On November 9, 2019, Hui'an County was awarded the title of "Arts and crafts popular science education base" by China Arts and Crafts Association;

Huian County was awarded the title of "stone carving and design decoration training center" by China Stone Association on November 9, 2019;

On November 9, 2019, Hui'an County was determined as "professional ability evaluation institution" by Fujian stone industry association and awarded the license;

On November 9, 2019, the "Huian County carving arts, culture and innovation talent fund" was established and awarded.
